Owner: Cindy Norge Cindy has been dancing since she was 6 years old. She took Tap, Ballet, and Jazz classes @ the York School of Dance in Yorktown. She was a Cheerleader for the York County League from 1966 - 1971. Then was a Majorette for her Intermediate and High School years. In 1990, she started modeling for different agencies until she started teaching dance classes in 1992. She started teaching in different clubs around the area. She started completing in Country Line Dance in 1993 with winning a lot of awards. In 1994, she started dancing Country Partner as the Pro-Am division (being the beginner). In 1995, she started dancing in different divisions in the UCWDC events. Then in 1995, she opened, "Country Bootleggers Dance Studio", which is located in Yorktown, VA, where she manages, and teaches. She is also a board member of the "Tidewater Swing Club", and also a Staff member of the "Atlantic Seashore" a UCWDC event. She has always loved dancing and it shows when she is dancing and teaching. Steve Kirvan = Ballroom Instructor
Steve started teaching for Fred Astaire Dance Studios (FADS) in Durham, NC at the age of 17. After completing a six week training class, Steve has never looked back and has now been teaching ballroom dancing for 12 years. Steve competed professionally with FADS for 7 years in both the Rhythm and Smooth Styles; placing within the top 6 to 10 in the Southeastern region and receiving several Top Teacher Awards. Steve moved to Virginia in 2001 to teach for FADS of Virginia Beach and decided to take a break from dancing at the end of 2002. But, in October 2004, Steve decided it was time to go back to his passion and started teaching full time again. Currently, Steve is an independent instructor and enjoys teaching people how to have fun dancing while bringing ballroom dancing to the Hampton Roads area. Steve is certified at the Silver Level and a member of the National Dance Council of America (NDCA).
Linus Ellis = Country & Ballroom Instructor
Linus, a
native of Wilmington, Delaware, has been involved in the performing arts
for most of his life. He brings a unique mix of talents to his work at The
Ellis Studio.
Dawn Phillips = Ballroom Instructor
Dawn began dancing in the spring of 2003 and was
immediately hooked. She has been trained in the International style
and, together with her partner, Bill, loves to do exhibitions and will
pretty much dance any time there is music playing.
Dawn started teaching for fun and truly
enjoys working with her students. She has taught both International
and American Standard and Latin and also social dancing.
Darla, Keith & Chelsea Hornberger - Shag
Chelsea is a Junior at Menchville High school. She is in Band, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, Swimming and is a Shag Dance competitor. She has been dancing for 5 years Darla has been dancing for over 12 years, starting out in country line dancing, moving to east and west coast swing then settling in Shag. They enjoy taking trips to North Myrtle Beach for dancing events and to earn new steps.
